The material is, usually, out of copyright, i.e. the composer has been dead for at least 70 years and the edition of the work was published more than 25 years ago. Some material published on some of these sites may infringe these UK copyright rules. BEWARE and if in doubt, DON'T DOWNLOAD!
Alternatively, some material is available on these sites because a living composer and/or editor permit free sharing of their work. This is most clearly the case when reference is made to a Creative Commons (CC) copyright license. It is safe to download when you see reference to a CC licence.

The International Music Score Library Project started in 2006. It aims to create a virtual library of public domain music scores based on the wiki principle. There is a tutorial about using the site at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Xz5j9ysx50
Swiss guitarist and composer Jürg Kindle started his musical career as a rock drummer in the seventies. As a young guitar teacher in the early 1980s he began to compose pieces for his students. He sells sheet music on his website, but also offers a generous list of free scores of his compositions and arrangements.
The Music and Theatre Library of Sweden houses an extensive archive of guitar music collected by Carl Oscar Boije. Digitised printed editions from the 19th century, and autographs are available are free to download and print.
The Guitar School (Iceland) offers over 3,300 pages of sheet music for the classical guitar edited by Eythor Thorlaksson (1930-2018) .

Bergmann Edition, based in Denmark, is Europe’s leading publisher of new and rare music for classical guitar. Founded in 2015 by Allan Bergmann Jensen, the Bergmann imprint now represents over 80 contemporary composers working in all genres. They also publish a selective range of teaching literature.
Music publishing house founded in 1986 by Sylvain Lemay, Les Productions d’OZ has quickly established itself as a leader in classical guitar music publishing, both for solo instrument and in ensemble music settings. With the acquisition of Doberman Editions in 2010, the catalogue has expanded to include all orchestral instruments, and a wide selection of Canadian contemporary works.
